Meeting Point - Skegby Methodist Church
Meeting Point is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Skegby Methodist Church and Anchor Centre and offers a safe space where adults with learning disabilities can meet together along with volunteer helpers and carers for fun and fellowship. The shape of the evening is planned around a theme providing opportunity for craft work, games, refreshments, and worship.
Numbers may vary from fifteen to twenty adults with learning disabilities along with ten to twelve helpers and two carers. The majority of the attendees are drawn from residential homes in the area of Sutton and Kirkby in Ashfield.
The whole evening is charged with a sense of fun and activity, the highlight being the time of worship where the theme taken for the evening is acknowledged. A group of ladies at the meetingRecently we have been looking at the person of Jesus, asking the question, "Why did he come and die and what does he mean to me?" Together we have experienced the presence of Jesus among us and the freedom to share honestly with each other. Along with lack of inhibitions so evident throughout the evening and our love for one another we have all grown closer together and to Him therefore making our Meeting Point very special.
